A Respectable Man & a Blessed Woman

I am so honored and proud to say that my husband Casey was installed as a deacon at our congregation this past Sunday.  To become a deacon is to become a servant in the Lord's church.  It is a big responsibility and not something to be taken lightly.  According to 1 Timothy 3:8-13, the qualifications of deacons are as follows:
8 Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, 9 holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience. 10 But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless. 11 Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. 12 Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 13 For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Casey is an excellent father and husband, a great provider for our family, and a strong spiritual leader.  I know that he will serve our congregation and, most importantly, our Lord to the very best of his ability.  I am so blessed to call him my husband.

As a deacon's wife, I know that I am called to step up to the plate as well.  I need to make sure that I not only support my husband in his work but serve the congregation to the best of my ability as well.  I am so pleased and honored to be able to use the talents that the Lord has blessed me with to bless others.

I'm happy that my friend James was also installed as a deacon.  His wife Bre is a dear friend of mine, and they have a wonderful Christian family.  The two other men installed, Sion and Casey W., and their wives are great friends and strong examples too.  It is so encouraging and uplifting to be surrounded by such strong Christian people.  I know that our new deacons will be (and already are) excellent leaders in our congregation.
